When should I start growing my kale?
I live in Redlands,Ca between Loma Linda and Mentone. So Im wondering when I should start growing my kale seeds.Im going to grow them inside to get going. So when should I start growing? Also would it be better if I grew them in a garden box with potting soil and compost or just put them in the ground?Would there be a difference?
The vegetable kale is useful as a winter crop, when all else may not withstand low temperatures. I believe 'Tuscany Black' will give a good crop, as I have used this for one season and gathered the seed from it as well. A heavy cropper, though very susceptible to insect and birds, so cover well with fine netting or you'll only have stumps.
Hope this is useful and good luck.
Fall is the time to plant...chard also does well during same period
