When do I need a permit to build something?

If I want to build a shed, carport or other structure, when do I need permit to do that and where can I find instructions on the 'How to..."?

The answer to your question is dependent upon where you live and local zoning laws.  Check with your local city or county government.

Each county has their own regulations on building. Check with the department where you would get a building permit and ask them. If you go in, they will probably have a printout as well with the different regulations that you would have to follow.
As far as 'How-to's', Google it. They have places where you can order blueprints and there are also places that have them free. One I use is http://www.countryplans.com/        They have a wide variety and good how-to's. Free plans and plans to pay for. Find what you want.
    Good luck and have fun.
