    It depends on what type (species) you are interested in. But, as with most plants, water, good soil and sunlight should be sufficient. Avoid dry environment (air) caused, for example, by heating systems during winter months, if that is the case where you live.

    Thank you. We usually have a lot of snow and it is hard to get sunlight during winter.
    Can I just use some lamp to light the plant?
    I would love to grow Basil.

    Basil is one of the best indoor choices. Grow lights and full spectrum light can help if you are lacking natural sunlight. Indoor plants need to get air to their root system as well as water. You will need to be very mindful of the moisture content of your plant especially if the lighting is compromised. Finding the environmental balance is the key to success when growing outdoor plants indoors.
