   Cleaning the new home first so when we get there with all the furniture and belongings, it's clean and fresh and I won't have to worrying about cleaning and unpacking later on.

   My number 1 tip overall is to handle each item once!!!!! When you pick up an item, make a decision about where it will go and put it there and leave it there. I wrote a hub on moving and lots of other helpful tips can be found there.
   I am just settling in to my new place....

   I would check the distance from home to school and work,this could be a big savings or loss, If you had to drive even 20 more miles a day,In just a year at the high gas prices of today would relay add up.

   Money saving tip - Buy a fixer upper house. The amount you spend on the renovations will be much less than the price you would pay for a fully fixed up house. Plus you will be able to put your own influence as to how you want the house to look.

   Money saving tip - seriously declutter as you pack, and sell the stuff you don't want (or give it away on Freecycle). It's less to carry, a little money earned, and less to maintain.

   Speaking from experience of moving several times in the past few years, my best tip for saving money when moving is by using towels, socks, and blankets to protect fragile items!  You already have them, so why not use them?  I put glasses and vases into socks, wrap frames in towels, and put wash cloths between plates.
