Stripped screw can have two meanings.
If the threads of the screw are stripped, your best bet is to try and get a pair of locking pliers around the head and pull while you are turning it.
If the slot in the screw are stripped, you can either try a better screwdriver, or there is a tool you can purchase, it is made by Craftsman, that cuts into the screw and allows you to remove it. I think you have to use it with a power drill.
