From my experience, some paint never comes out, but I have had success with hairspray and with using nail polish remover. The only thing about the nail polish remover is that it make harm certain kinds of clothing (if it contains something called acetate, but natural fiber clothing like cotton should be fine) It might take a combination of solutions. I also suggest trying oxyclean. And vinegar sometimes gets it out of carpet but I've never tried it with clothing. If it's a fresh stain, just be persistent. Use cold water and soak/wash/rinse repeatedly. That's really the key sometimes. Just keep going at it. I hope this helps!
It really depends on the paint and whether the stain has been "set" by the clothes dryer. For the best success, a stain needs to be treated as soon as possible. Oil base paint treated w/ paint thinner or turpentine, rinsed well, and washed as usual is effective. Acrylic, alkyd, and latex paints can be treated w/ alcohol using a soft toothbrush to get into the fabric fibers. It's best to air dry in case the item needs repeat treatment. Good luck!
