Color of water in a fountain

I was in Katowice (Poland) this summer. One of city city fountains had yellow water. I was surprised . Have you got any suggestion why was it coloured?

Yellowish water is typically caused by low concentrations of iron in it.  The iron can come from the plumbing or even the water treatment facility.  Other elements such as manganese can sometimes cause some slight yellowing of water as well.

Most water in my area, in Canada, is coloured yellow-ish. Caused by iron deposits. Iron is the most common element, here on earth. Also, in the fall, or autumn, the colour from fallen leaves can turn the water a yellowish colour for a few weeks....Cheers!
