How can I get cleaner dishes from my dishwasher?

Sometimes I wonder if I ought to run the dishes through again but does anyone have any tips for improving the efficiency of my dishwasher? Many of my dishes are fine but some are questionable.

Also, I notice salt marks on some items.

    Thanks.

There are a lot of variables with dishwashers - powder vs liquid soap, hard vs soft water, etc. I'm wondering why you are having salt marks on the dishes. What type of dish washing soap are you using? It sounds like the problem is actually in the rinse cycle. You may want to try a product like LemiShine Rinse and see if that helps with the problem.

Thanks for the reply - hard water area, using Fairy All In One dishwasher tablets.

Try some lemon juice added to your detergent. You may see a big difference!

I recently got a product to sample, from the people that make Finish, it is an additive to goes in along with your detergent.  WOW!  It even clean the copper bottoms on my pots. It is really efficient.  I think when this sample is done, I am going to buy it.  We have terribly hard water and the spots and stuff on the dishes are terrible and Jet Dry doesn't even do it--but this product does.

I bet it has the same ingredient the additive I suggested has - powdered lemon juice. Try some concentreated lemon juice added to your detergent.

I will definitely try the lemon juice.  Much cheaper than an additive.  Thanks!

Use a good product for cleaning the dishes and also take a little time to clean the dishwasher out.

I use Fairy - not cheap! By cleaning the dishwasher out, well, it looks and smells clean.

Do you have kids?  Forget the dish washer and have your kids shine those dishes.
