    What do you associate with a modern man's home

    I'm due to sign the contracts on my first home in the next few weeks and I want it to be a home of a 'modern man' What do you seen as the elements, pieces and styling that could really be in keeping with such. I'm after ideas decorating and styling wise.

    Congratulations on your new home! A modern man's home can be as environmentally friendly as you can make it! So you might what to look at what your options are for green energy, or saving energy with the electrical appliances you have or isolation in your home etc.. A modern man's home can also have a green patch, even if small, on the balcony or garden with some plants that help purify the air, some nice fresh herbs and some pretty flowers. Modern people do not seem to like clutter so it would be good to keep the home spacious. A mixture of modern pieces (kitchen gadgets) with some antique pieces and wood work are always nice. Hope you like some of this for your new home.

      Interesting insight- I have to admit as a modern man- wooden pieces are not my personal style. Your emphasis of green aspects have helped me think of alternatives, CF

    My first thoughts on a modern man's home have got nothing to do really with what you actually ask for. Decorating ideas.

    I'm sure you have ideas about colors and style. If you have been living independently years before buying your first home, you must have tried things out.

    You could ask yourself how you would like to feel when entering your home. Would you like to open the door and feel peaceful because your house smells clean, it looks tidy, it's not cluttered with furniture but the furniture that fills your home is chosen because of your own style?

    Do you like a mix of styles? Modern and a touch of classic? Will you spend long hours at home or not? Does it need to be a place for you to relax or is it merely a place to go from one job to another obligation outside?

    Now back to my first thoughts of a modern man's home. They normally live in a home that is functional, without any candles, without curtains but with a lot of plastic shades, a lack of cabinets so you'll find a lot of things on tables and floors and a place where you'll get easily distracted by different kind of smells due to not opening any windows.

    They mention the lack of time for not cleaning their home, they tell me they feel so restless when they enter their home and they always use the excuse of 'needing a female touch' in there.

    The ones that do have an interest in keeping their homes tidy, cosy and clean, enjoy the fact that visual order means mental peace and order, which stands for using your energy for exactly the things you really like to do in life.

    A sleek design. All the walls are white. Throughout, the colors are black, white and red. Living room: A black sofa (hides stains) of leather (if you like and can afford leather). A coffee table with a glass top and black wrought iron legs. A couple of black-and-white striped swivel chairs. A red Persian carpet to give color and style. A red telephone. Brass lamps with white lampshades. Kitchen: white cabinets. Black marble countertops. Black appliances. Red metal chairs around a black kitchen table. A red telephone. Bedroom: white chest of drawers and other furniture white, black-and-white striped comforter, white mini blinds. Red telephone. Brass lamps with white lampshades. Bath: black towels, black bath mat, black-and-white striped shower curtain, red accessories (soap dish, toothbrush holder, etc.), frameless mirror on medicine cabinet, white vanity. And I'll leave it there. A sleek design like this gives a very masculine feeling. Congrats on the house!
