    Time, experience and fear of heights would be my first 3 set backs. Though, I love a challenge, researching and reading up on the latest information on doing something I've never done before, plus the reward of a cold beer after a long day in the sun might prove enough to get me to try my hand.

    Me though, I'd start in the back to make sure I got things right before moving to the front where there's a larger viewing audience. :-D

    If you are talking about indoor painting, I think painting it yourself is the way to go if there are no really high vestibules that would require scaffolding.  It really is not that difficult and goes really fast and worth the money you will save.  It also makes you feel great.  You just have to do it!  One word of advice: use tape!!!!!!  If you are talking about the outside of the house, I would hire a painter.  I think a professional will do the job right and will be worth the money.  Definitely get some quotes. There are plenty of people who will do this as a side job and will offer competitive rates!  Get referrals from friends if you can.  You want someone that shows up!
