I didn't go to the posted link because I would never pay to enter a contest or put out any fees to collect a prize unless it benefited a charity. If a person can afford to do so and feels it's legitimate, then why not? Gambling and entering raffles fall under the same concept, and people do these without hesitation.
The ad mentions a bed and breakfast in Main that was successfully handled in the same manner. I remembered seeing it so am really interested in how this works out for the owners. Also interested in what people think of the concept in general.
I went to the sight to check it out. It looks totally legit and is actually a legal form of real estate crowd-funding. The B&B contest results in Maine were under investigation this year because some entrants felt they were at a disadvantage. Hm
Yes, there's good reason to think it is definitely legit. Re the Maine B&B case, hope it gets a judge who realizes that any time a crowd gathers some will not realize all things in life are not equal or fair and so are going to feel disadvantaged
