Yes, land should be taxed as it has been for many years. The government needs money to operate. This is one source of tax revenue for them. Think about it, my property taxes are 1200.00 a year and I only own like 1/8 of an acre. That is a significant amount of money for the government. Now if they could spend it better maybe we wouldn't have such a deficit.
Land should be taxed to limit those that have the possibility to buy a lot of it. And to limit it's price. Land is a really limited resource and if someone very rich can buy it without limitations like having to pay taxes ... well its not a good thing.
