    Can someone provide the steps,tips and nutty-gritty on investing in stocks ? It would be appreciable if you also explain Mutual Funds with comparison self trading.

    Stock trading takes a lot of knowledge, some intelligence.  And you need to have paid attention in school in your math classes.  Those are the big things.  If you educate yourself well, you can start out with just a few thousand dollars (U.S.) -- you don't need tens or hundreds of thousands.

    A couple of quick points in addition:
    1) Mutual funds are being succeeded by ETFs (exchange traded funds)
    2) If you are using stop orders (for stop loss), given the rampant manipulation in today's markets, such as that recent 1000 point gyration, you need to also know about options as protection.
