Can you explain the steps for an employee to appeal an Michigan UIA Administrative Judge's decision?
Should the letter to the Board of Review include any specific language or reason for the request and do I have to include a copy of the transcript from the Administrative Judge hearing.
All you have to do is write a letter to the Michigan Employment Security Board of Review telling them you disagree with the ALJ's decision and request that the Board review it. The Board of Review must RECEIVE your request within 30 days. A postmark within 30 days isn't good enough. The Board will review the case record and a typed transcript of the ALJ hearing and render a decision without holding another hearing. The Board holds hearings only in highly unusual cases or those involving large numbers of employees. You don't have to include a copy of the transcript. The Board will automatically receive a copy of the transcript and case file.
