Should ''Freedom of Speech'' include Spewing Hatred toward others?

Updated on March 24, 2018

A Reality Check

Crossing the line with hate speech - Is this really an individual "right" under the constitution?

Let's meet some of the distinctly disturbed on Hub Pages.

The depth of hatred in this world is extremely unnerving.

When one has to remain anonymous in order to voice an opposing view, it is time to rethink how we teach our children about what the bible truly means; and that love and forgiveness always trumps hatred and intolerance.

This article may be quite disturbing to some people. It is in reference to a comment i received on my hub entitled: "Don't ask don't tell - finally repealed. See who voted how".

Those comments will be printed just as this person wrote it.

Obviously there was no expectations of privacy by posting a comment on an "open to all the public" site.

The return comments back are also included.

Reconciling reality with taught beliefs is difficult for many people

The comment:

01/01/11 from: leo gervais 1137 penn ave vandergift, Pa 15690:

"for i am not ashamed of the gospel of christ for the wrath of god is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness likewise also the man leaving the natural use of the woman burned in their lust for one another men with men committing what is shameful and receiving within themselves the penalty of their error which was due and even as they did not like to retain god in their knowledge god gave them over to debased mind to do those things which are not fitting being filled with all unrighteousness sexual immorality wickedness covetousness maliciousness full of envy murder strife deceit evil mindedness they are wispers back biters haters of god violent proud boasters inventors of evil things disobedient to parents undiscerning untrustworthy unloving unforgiving unmerciful who knowing the righteous judgment of god that those who practice such things are worthy of death not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them romans 1 16-31."

Some christians are truly delusional

The Response:

To leo gervais:

"I have no idea where this rubbish came from, but it is a perfect example of the idiocy of people who have been so completely brainwashed in their childhood, or have deep repressive emotional disturbances.

This kind of hateful rhetoric, used in the name of goodness, is indeed the most unholy of all babblings.

If people really believe this carp they are in deep need of some serious emotional counseling.

To repeat it in earnest is also a sign of deep rooted sexual deviance's within the author.

Sexual repression can be extremely painful and harmful to the psyche if left untreated. Please get some help from a professional, before you harm yourself, or worse, someone else.

My prayers go out to you for your enlightenment, and hope you can find the peace you truly need within your own mind.

PS: if you truly believe the words you wrote above, as being from the god that you worship, i do also suggest you find another one with a little more benevolence than the malevolent god you currently follow.

Good luck and God bless."

Hateful and Nasty People are Everywhere

Disturbing and Unnerving

This is extremely disturbing to me.

Not the comment in itself, but that there are actually those crazies out there living amongst us.

One would expect this kind of idiocy from a T.V. program, but in real life it is truly disconcerting.

I would fear for the safety of the 'friends' or 'relatives' or 'anyone' who is in close proximity to someone with this obvious a mental problem.

I would think it prudent not to have too much personal information about one's private life available to the loonies, on this site, or on any other public site, for that matter.

This is why I chose to use my pen name on this site instead of my real name and whereabouts, as i would hope every other writer is doing the same as well, if they are publishing anything that can be interpreted as "anti-christian", or "anti any other religion". Or pro choice for women, pro equal rights, pro marriage equality, or anything else that religions teach as "sins".

I worked for many years as a psychiatric nurse in an institution for the criminally insane. It is common knowledge that the basic underlying mental breakdown process stems from either religious, or sexual, conflicts within a mind that is incapable of rational assimilation of conflicting teachings that defy logic.

If this person has not already harmed others, it is only a matter of time before he does.

This could very well be your relative, your friend, your acquaintance, or your own child, with all this mental pain and anguish, and you will never know it until it explodes with tragic results.

All my years of being around the mentally unstable in a work setting and seeing it depicted so frequently on screen, has not made it any easier to accept, when it manages to come into my life via the Internet, and through hub pages.com.
