Obama - Lies and Chicago Style Politics

Obama was re elected as President of the United States regardless of the lies and lack of follow through during his first term. I guess maybe Chicago style politics work for some....

Here is the situation- A Super PAC, called PAC Priorities USA, who are supporters of Obama have put out a commercial that is unfair, untrue, and despicable. By now most of us have seen it either on our local stations or on a cable news channel discussing this “Rotten to the core” ad.

The ad features a former steel worker whose company was closed down after a Bain Capitol merger and a subsequent bankruptcy. The man tells the story of how he lost his job and his health-care benefits because of Bain Capitol and Mitt Romney. He continues with the sad story of his wife dying of cancer because they did not have health insurance, he says something to the effect of “I believe she waited so long to go to the doctor because she knew we couldn't afford to buy insurance” – This is a very sad story and you cannot help but feel bad for this man who has lost his wife to a horrible disease like cancer. The just of the story again is “it is all Romney’s fault.” This ad is quite deceiving and it is a “LIE”

The man in the ad is Joe Soptic, a steel worker by trade. What Joe doesn't tell the TV audience is very material to the truth. Joe doesn't mention that his wife had her own health insurance through her employer and therefore Joe’s insurance didn't matter that much – KEY POINT. He doesn't tell us that his wife died in 2006 - BUT the company he worked for, GST, filed for bankruptcy in 2001 – a full FIVE years before her illness and subsequent death – VERY KEY POINT. Joe also doesn't mention that Mitt Romney was long gone from Bain Capitol by 2006 and therefore he had absolutely NOTHING to do with the buy out of GST (Joe’s Employer) – Another VERY KEY POINT. How does Joe live with the knowledge that he is disgracing his beloved wife’s memory for politics?

Then we have the Obama Campaign team who won’t stand up and do the right thing by demanding that PAC Priorities USA pull this LIE from the television lineup. They give the standard cop out answer of "we can't coordinate with super PACs and didn't produce the ad.” Maybe they didn't produce the ad but you can bet if a Pro Romney Super PAC had multiple lies about Obama in one of these ads they (Obama’s team) would be all over Romney and his team to get the ad pulled – and rightly so.

What this says to me is that Obama and his campaign team are open to using lies and deceit to try and win this election because they cannot stand on his record alone. If we were to look solely at Obama’s record as President the past 3+ years he would be a nearly complete failure. He is under qualified, in way over his head, and arrogant on top of it. I think the lack of action from Obama himself says so much about who he is and how low he is willing to go. The sad fact is Obama's "low information" supporters will believe this story to be true. Chicago style politics at it’s finest. Why would anyone think this is okay?
