I am never for suing when we make our own choices to smoke. However I find it a little disturbing that our government contiues to promote pill companies, beer, and tobacco yet all natural remedies ranging from medical Marijuana to other herbal remedies are frowned upon. Most governments are backwards. Just because they allow it doesn't mean we have to do it though.

I dunno.  I think Columbia should sue the United States Of America.  The USA sends planes to Columbia to destroy as much of that nations one cash crop as is possible - but the facts are this:  American tobacco kills more people of Columbia each year than cocaine from Columbia kills US citizens.

What a nation of hypocrites we are here in the USA - we fly terrorist missions in Columbia to ruin them economically - and then buy as much cocaine from them as possible - killing them silently with our more deadly and stupid drug - American cigarettes.

The government knows litigiousness is bad for us, but it hauls people into court all the time. Let's sue it and the lawyers for too much suing.

Good question. My belief is no, the government should not be sued. The smokers have a choice and there are many smoking cessation options. Suing gov't that is not responsible for the manufacture of these slow killers is not right. Taking responsibility for your own actions is.

Quite frankly, I am SICK of this " sue someone" mentality.

So, if you choose to drink gasoline...........should you " sue" the oil refineries?

If you choose to eat potting soil..........should you be able to sue, various farmers who donated the " waste"............waste being do-d...pigs, cattle, dog, sheep.....

If you are so stupid as to drink drain cleaner to clean out your digestive system.............is it REALLY the fault of DRAINO?

Health watches, tidbits, warnings, and advice are now at our finger tips.............

Is is REALLY the fault of another.........that you made a poor choice?

so, yes, there was once a time, when " smoking " seemed to be cool or hip.........

Now, 50, years later......someone wants to blame the goverment for failing to tell them what to think?

I think , NOT..............I will do my own thinking...........

MY government is not in the business of protecting me from myself.'

YOURS, was not either...........so stop the blaming, and the collecting..............pay the price for your choices,.

Nobody should be sued, not the tobacco companies, not the government, people make their choices, so they should take responsability. Personally, I think it's a pity what this all has come to, because more and more people try to blame others on everything they do.

No one should sue anyone else, because they made irresponsible decisions themselves, it is ridiculous, this mentality of "I'm fat." sue mcdonalds "I have cancer" sue tobacco companies, it is just a way to pawn off your own failures onto others, in an especially greed fueled way.

i asked this question wrong, my mistake. what i was trying to say is why do tobacco companies gets sued but not the government for keeping cigs legal. i hate suing anyone and i never have but why do governments get away with suing tobacco companies when it's the government that makes the most money of smokes?

No, the US Surgeon General puts a warning on every pack of cigarettes. He warns to smoke at your own risk. All drugs should be legalized.
