   Who would be your third choice for presidential candidate for 2012?
   
   We have to two choices now...but if you could name anyone as the third choice... who would it be? Why? Would you replace one of the current candidates? Open the election to a strong 3rd party? Go ahead people... have at it.... I value your comments whether or not I agree with them...

   Ron Paul, because he has been speaking the truth for thirty years.  He understands why we have economic hardships and failed foriegn policy.  If you listen to what he says, you will understand that our problems are very simplistic and not as complicated as politicians make them seem.
   
   We are following the same path as many other countries throughout history.

   Charlie Crist, former Governor of Florida would have made an excellent choice to replace both of those now running.  He is both fair and honest, and left the GOP because they became too radical.  He is now an independent and if his name was on the ballot against the other two he would surely be the next president.  Our loss for sure.

   I would choose famed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, because he seems to be an extremely intelligent and kind-hearted soul who has no political ambitions whatsoever. The last thing is, in my opinion, what makes him the perfect candidate.
   
   That's not to say that anyone with political ambition is horrible, but I'd just prefer a guy or girl who wouldn't let an ego-driven agenda get in the way of bipartisanship. (so someone who isn't a lawyer or businessperson)

   The GOP convention isn't over, yet. In fact, it hasn't even started. I still pick Ron Paul to win. Long shot? You bet, but we've had long shots before.
   
   Why Ron Paul?
   
   He's consistent. He has doggedly supported the Constitution for 30 years, even when it wasn't popular.
   
   He's for letting people spend their own money, rather than having the government take nearly half. He will eliminate all of the Corporate wars of greed, bring all of the troops home and close bases overseas. But he's not afraid to go to war if it's warranted. When we discovered that there were no WMDs or Al Qaeda camps in Iraq, did we apologize and leave? No, we stayed and made things worse, despite our mistakes in being there in the first place. And Bush made jokes about the mistakes, but did nothing about fixing them. Cute!
   
   He would slash spending by $1 Trillion the first year. That by itself gets my attention. The government is spending like a drunken pirate with a stolen credit card. Enough!
   
   Ron Paul would restore the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Without these, America has lost its identity. It's starting to look too much like Soviet Russia or Nazi Germany.
   
   Ron Paul would also eliminate the IRS and personal income taxes! Outrageous? No! With government spending slashed, they don't need that source of income.
   
   America has turned into a Nanny (Communist) State and the Communist takeover was relatively peaceful. It was a creeping erosion, slow and methodical over decades. Ron Paul would help restore America to its true greatness -- land of the free and home of the brave -- a land of the people, not the corporation.

      I'm still scratching my head wondering how he dropped out to begin with. He had my vote. He should have just ran as a third party to begin with instead of trying to fit into the republican party.

      He is still running under the Republican party.  The Republican National Convention is coming up this month.  They just say Romney is the assumed winner. Ron Paul never dropped out.

   A man I know who works as a repairman at my church. He doubts everything he hears, reads philosophy, gives to charity, is concerned first with truth, and answers every question with another question.
   
   Come to think of it, he'd be my first choice.
