Why don't you care about the IRS scandal?

No one seems to write or voice concern over the IRS scandal?  This is gustapo thugish behaviour and should scare the hell out of all people in both parties?  I admit had Bush done this to liberals I would be laughing,  but liberals should know now when Pubs get back in office they are fair game anyway if this isn't stopped and someone imprisoned!  America isn't communist yet!  This goes to the White House!  Insiders from IRS claim!

PQ - The answer is really quite simple.  I would bet that even today, over 50% of our citizens know absolutely nothing about this.  A recent man-in-the-street interview proved that 14 out of 15 knew nothing about the IRS, Benghazi, or the AP scandals.
Nor could they name the Vice President of this country.
It truly is apathy and ignorance on the part of our citizens that is destroying this country.  Why watch the news when they can watch educational TV shows like Honey Boo Boo?

Very true, but a portion of the other 50 percent are not doing anything but speculating and guessing which is just as bad. Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. --- George Bernard Shaw

What I am doing is waiting for evidence and a full review. I prefer not to judge things without all the facts.
Jumping to assumptions contrary to popular Republican view is not actually a virtue its stupidity.

The Republican view? Sort of like when Dan Rather put phony national guard documents on television while Terry McAuliffe the head of the DNC called him a deserter with no evidence. I haven't heard any Republican official say Obama ordered this yet.

LandmarkWealthposted 10 years agoin reply to this

Its clearly not plausible the Prez just found out about it through the media when everyone else in the oval office seemed to know. But that isn't proof he directed or ordered it. Nothing will happen even if he did.  He'll never be held accountable.

  4. LandmarkWealth profile image67
    LandmarkWealthposted 10 years ago

Most people are not paying attention, or are just oblivious.  At the moment you cannot trace the orders back to the White House directly. But it has been traced back to the Washington.   Although we know they have already lied about part of the story.  First the President had heard about this through the media when it broke and nobody in the WH knew anything about it.  Then we find that the Chief of staff and several others in the oval office knew about this well before the election, but somehow never told the President.  Obviously that is not plausible.  There is no way he would not be told about this at least after the fact. Then we are told it was a few rogue agents in Cincinnati.  That turned out to be false.  Whenever politicians start throwing out explanations at random, it usually means they know more  than they are letting on and want to see what story will stick.

But at the moment, all you can say is the WH failed to inform the American people about what they knew and lied about when they found out about it.  That does not mean it was ordered by the President directly.  Although I would not put that passed him and his Saul Alinsky like approach at all.  But it is possible that it was a Watergate like event.  Unfortunately, whomever ordered it has set the bar pretty low.  A new low. And now that the IRS has been used as a powerful political weapon.  So, while I don't agree with the methods, I am sure the next Republican administration will now consider this fair game.  All the more reason to simplify the tax code to a flat tax and greatly defang this whole organization.

    I care.   A whole lot.
Nothing I can do (that I know of) except wait and see if the people with the power to do something about it...actually do something about it.
As of right now,  most people in the News are protecting the President.    When they should be investigating him too, or....barring that,  impeaching him anyway!    Because it's laughable to think that he doesn't know anything about so many things!   This isn't the first scandal that he "doesn't know" anything about.    So, either way, he's unfit.    'Cause he's either ignorant,   or he's in the know about everything but refuses to take any responsibility for it.  A President should know something!    And honestly it looks like he DOES know about everything but is being protected.   Scapegoats abound.   They have ever since Rod Blagojevich took all the blame for his fiasco crime.   And probably even before that.

I don't understand why anyone would respect him either way.    He's just a man.  And one who has shown himself to be anti-Constitution, anti-Christian, anti-conservative, anti-capitalism, anti-citizens rights, much more stuff.   Yet he's been, and being, treated like he's the best thing since sliced bread.    It boggles the mind.

So....I'm waiting to see if any kind of justice will ever be done during this Administration's run.    Any kind of justice,  anywhere at all.

For me, it isn't that I don't care, it's that if I made a list of things I care about more, the IRS 'scandal,' even if it is one, wouldn't end up on the list until probably well past a thousand other things. This is minor news (relatively speaking), not front page stuff as some on the right are trying to make it out to be. Do something important and quit whining, is my advice.

Not sure were you get that no one is writing or voicing concern about it. Haven't heard anything from right-wing news except about the so-called scandals for months now. The way they cling to it just seems desperate to me. Like a dude on a beach still clinging to a life preserver. There is governance which could be getting done.

Yeah, if DC can use the IRS to suppress and eliminate political opposition, that shouldn't rank very high on the concern list.  After all, trying to silence the public and/or the media isn't any threat to liberty.  Like watching a 3rd world dictator.

Murder.Please..You're a regular expert on the rules of military conduct.  The US didn't have a policy of murder.  People do get killed that shouldn't in warfare.  That's unfortunate.  That does mean they were murdered.  Otherwise Dresden was murder

    17. junkseller profile image79
junksellerposted 10 years agoin reply to this

You can call it whatever you want. It is still far more important than the IRS 'scandal,' the IRS 'scandal' is still a back-page news story, and there is still VERY important governance which could be happening but isn't (and yes Dresden was murder).

    18. LandmarkWealth profile image67

Dresden and many other campaigns saved more lives than they cost and ended the War.  The outrage about what, an attempt to combat terrorist regimes like the Taliban. And silencing democracy is not back page, which is what this is an attempt at.

I don't care because Americans get what they get when somebody is in office. People have as many double standards when it comes to politics as they do with how they treat others in their everyday lives. Everybody wants more freedom for themselves and less for their enemies, not due process for everybody. Nobody wants to deal with what it really takes to clean things up.

Part of the problem is that people on both sides have a tendency to exaggerate everything when it comes to politics. So you get a bit of a "cry wolf" syndrome, and if an actual scandal takes place, then many people just assume that this is politics as usual. And the way your question is worded is just a common example of this type of hysteria.

So the IRS was giving extra scutiny to political action groups posing as charitable organizations. They weren't stopping anyone from forming organizations or from saying what he or she pleased. And you are saying that I should be scared because we are on the road to communism? Get a grip.

The scandal in this whole episode is the facade of campaign finance laws. If you want to create a political action group, you could just become a SuperPac. You could then go out and get unlimited donations from whoever the hell you want, which is bad enough. Of course, if you do not want to disclose donors or worry about paying any taxes, claim that you are a social welfare organization. What a joke.

Groups have a right to free speech. They don't have a right to tax exempt status. And the main reason Tea Party groups were "targeted" was because they were so obvious about being political action groups in disguise.

Yes, many of them are still waiting for approval for years, and in some cases have lost grants and donations.  The whole purpose of this was to hold them in limbo in perpetuity.  It's an attempt to suppress political opposition.

"Promoting social welfare" is supposed to be the primary function. My point was that a group focused on "reducing poverty" sounds like a charity. One focused on "reducing government spending" sounds like a PAC. (Although they might both be PACs.)
