   Do you think schools should give kids homework?
   
   The government is deciding whether they should ban homework from all schools nation wide in the US. They are arguing that homework does not help the student and is just busy work. That it'll create more stress for the teacher and the students. Do you think that this is a good idea?

   No homework.  The teacher can never be sure whether the parent did the homework, or the kid copied the answers from someone else.  And that's if the homework is done at all.

   Busy work is bad.
   Enrichment can be good.
   Pushing work to the parents because they don't have time to teach the material to kids in class due to disruptive elements is unfair.

      Homework is for the students not the parents. Any problems with the homework by the student would be answered by the teacher the next day. If that isn't the case, then why do we have teachers?

   Today is 2016 and not 1916, and that means that we have a lot more to learn especially based on technology and science. We have about the same amount of classroom time in both years, but there are several more magnitudes of information to be learned today.
   
   The government doesn't want more intelligent people, as intelligence interferes with the government's goal of manipulating and controlling the people. They are bred to obey, and pay taxes. None of that relies on intelligence.
   
   The education system in the US today is dismal, and not giving homework would make it pathetic. Kids have enough time to Tweet, Facebook, and other social media, and that time would be better served learning something more useful than what people are doing on the Internet.
   
   Once Johnny couldn't read, now Johnny is stupid and borderline moron.
   What is the benefit of not giving homework? So the kids can do more tweeting, more social media. None of that will improve their intelligence, but it could make them less intelligent.
   
   It seems like every generation in the last 100 years in the US has become less intelligent compared to the previous generation. Just look at the decline of the US since the 60s, and my statement is easily verified.

   I mean to go to a really good college and get a high level educated job I would believe you would need to go to school during the day and do homework all night. At least that is the experience I saw the kids who were successful endure.
   
   I for one did not choose that path and I am not in a high paying educated field lol.
   
   I think it is sad to be successful like that you have to do school work all day instead of enjoying your youthful years.
   
   What happened to the good old days that I always hear about?

      Just think how much more there is too learn in so many subjects, including the hi technology. Today, the kids don't even learn cursive or how to tell time on an analog clock? There are modern advantages Internet easier than library visit.
