    Why don't we need a wall to separate us from Canada?  Maybe we should study that and try to create the same scenario with Mexico.

      Kathleen Cochran you make a good point. but it seems the focus is only on Mexican illegals for some reason. When there are criminals and drug traffickers coming in from everywhere, even via the oceans hitting land in Florida.

    I would love to see Mexico's immigration laws replicated here, including:
    * deporting legal immigrants involved in political actions
    * no long legal process for immigrants kicked out of Mexico, and long jail sentences in nasty prisons if you try to evade deportation
    * not allowed to immigrate to Mexico without proof of income / assets (like retirement accounts) or job
    * severe penalties for employers who hire immigrants at below local wages
    * want services? Speak the language, Spanish. No federal services provided in any other language.
    * the Mexican constitution says they can control immigration for the demographic balance of the nation or Mexican economy, as well as for its best interest of the nation -  Article 32 of the General Population Law of the Mexican Constitution
    * you must pass medical exams to be a legal immigrant as well as to become a citizen - they don't take in people with TB, AIDS, leprosy, scabies as the US has
    * immigrants and visitors to Mexico are tracked, and visitors who do not possess proper documents and identification are subject to arrest and deportation
    * Guatemala–Mexico border wall, though not 100% of the way, and patrolled
    * citizen's arrest of suspected illegal immigrants allowed

      Tamara Wilhite, I would love to see some changes made in immigration laws, that certainly would pose an alternative to a 6.5 million dollar per mile wall.
