Scott Brown called on him to step down, while Romney just said his remarks were offensive and wrong. Is Romney capable of bucking GOP dogma at all?
Romney cannot afford to get the ire of the right flank of his party that is already suspcious of his true conservative credentials. He is a timid ,risk averse man that will ride the fence before alienating any constiuency that he needs to pander to for votes. Why is he afraid, there is Sen Cornyn of Texas, who is no moderate and even I heard that Sean Hannity said that Akin needed to step down. So the risky stuff has already been taken by people of the right side of the GOP, he should be able to see that the coast is clear.
