We've just come though a 30-year period of the greatest deregulation our government has ever experienced, and the world as we know it almost came to an end due to greed and corruption.  Have we learned nothing about the role of government?  Some of it is for our own protection.

And when the pendulum has swung so far, for so long, only benefiting a small portion of our citizenry, it's time for it to swing back in the other direction for a while and let some others benefit (like the working class).

Hardly, the greatest period of deregulation our government ever experienced was its first 130 years and the world didn't end then and it sure didn't come close to ending this time.

Thanks to some intelligent steps that were taken just in the nick of time.  If you don't call the recent events "close"  I'd hate to come any closer.

The last thirty years were about deregulation, so much so that they were the thirty greatest years of deregulation in American history?  The world almost ended?  I very much question the accuracy of these statements and would appreciate some evidence, any evidence.

Have you read the newspapers in the last 10 years or so?  They were full of evidence.

Corrupt officials and greedy people have been around a lot longer than 10 years.

          That's a politician's answer.

Let's see proof that it was the greatest deregulation in American history, and that the world nearly ended.

They must be either overflowing the sewage treatment or adding enough weight to sink the island.  Which I leave you to determine. smile

This really kills me. Once again here are Americans bantering back and forth across the fence. Newsflash: both sides are greedy, unethical scum. We obviously need government, people are entirely too dumb to be allowed to run their own lives, but there is such a vicious cycle of greed in Washington for the last hundred years that the people have come to accept this totalitarian style gov. as commonplace. We are now a population of sheep, cowards, and useless eaters. Very effective economic slaves. People think they make their own decisions, and lead their lives the way they want, but in reality the media(social, mainstream, even some alternative) dictates how you think, feel and act on a daily basis. God help us all,

I don't see how roads and the rule of law are denied to non-capitalists.  Nor am I sure who would be defined as such.
