Why don't Hollywood liberals and liberal billionaires give their fortunes to the government ?
With all the talk about paying your fair share, you'd think that the countries wealthiest and most influential liberals would at least give their fortunes to the government as an example since they support a greater role of government and raising taxes on the American people to support it.
You'd at least think it was reasonable for them to lead they way by agreeing to live on say 15 million with the remainder going to the government. That would be far more the most people would ever see in their lifetime.
Why? Because they are blow hards of the Hillary Clinton vein who say, "Do as I say and not as I do."
Or maybe they don't want to give you the opportunity to give to who you want to but reserve that right for themselves
hillary is actually campaigning to increase the taxes she pays.
Isn't Hillary the queen of crooked insider deals. That's how the Clinton's have made their fortunes, by selling influence for donations.
Why? Because with Teabaggers controlling the money: it would be spent on death and destruction. Only a fool would support that.
Since "teabaggers" are homosexuals you may have a point. Ignorance is bliss isn't it Libber Lips?
OMG...you admit it! Halleloooo. I see light at the end of the tunnel. Many have known this all along. Likud Lindsey and his pal McCainiac....Wide Stance. Shall I go on? You see, I insult them, you insult me. And I'm banned. SMH. flower: grow up
But why shouldn't the people who support wealth redistribution via the government, lead by example by allowing the government to redistribute their own money? Since they believe the government knows how to spend their money better than they do?
Oh, I don't know.....maybe the same reason conservatives are screaming for war....how many of their kids and grandkids are signed to military service? And THEY certainly believe in wealth distribution.....UP! By gvt design. Loopholes, anyone???
I did. House of Reps controls purse strings. Any money "gifted" to US gvt goes thru them.Which means..goes directly to Bibi or the MIC. No lib in right mind would give $$ to Radical Right Wingers. Not in million years.
How about when the Democrats, controlled Congress, why didn't they give then then?
Give what? The way we give to gubmint is thru taxes. Democrats work to see tax rates raised on the uber rich-if that includes them, than so be it. And how's this one-why don't those who hate gubmint stop running to be in it!!!And sign up for military
Since wealthy liberals believe we all should have less of a choice as to how we spend our money, you'd at least think they would lead by example since it would be much less of a hardship for them to provide sufficient means to fund their programs?
Why? Cons are always advocating war----I don't see them pony up to die or be maimed!!
The subject here is about wealthy liberals, can u answer my question?
Your premise is phony, based on your prejudice against liberals. They have no more power to decide where the money goes than you do: in fact, you have more power now, because your party controls the purse strings.Libs want higher taxes on rich-LAWFUL
Didn't Joe Biden say its our patriotic duty to pay higher taxes? Would it be ever more patriotic to give directly to the treasury? But hardly anyone has, I wonder why they didn't decide to when their guys were in charge?
Silly premise.Silly question. And it's exactly the same issue, but mine is life and death: Why doesn't every single member of gvt calling for war enlist, or make sure every member of his/her family who is eligible does? Why? Gvt doesn't work that way.
I'm being gracious, i'm not forcing them to give, thats what the liberals do, I'm just saying if they want to be taken seriously they should put their money where their mouth is, don't you think?
No, they pay what they owe. They work to change the system--finito! Cause if everyone put their $ where their mouth is: Rubio would be in uniform right now..he's still young, right? "We want war: as long as YOU go" And Cons force plenty, if you woman
If they really believed that the government knows best and they believe in leveling the playing field, why not donate their obscene excess profits to the government since they don't want to give the rest of us a choice of what to do with our $ ?
Because they are part of the system, just like everyone else. And what are you talking about? You guys get to move your money overseas, create "dummy" corporations, lie, cheat and steal! What more do you want....no taxes by law? Move to Dubai w Dickles
Because the US government isn't a charity.
The difference between liberals and conservatives is that liberals would GLADLY pay their share in taxes to support programs that care for those with less, while conservatives want tax breaks, and want to cut the programs that care for those with less, in a sort of "screw you, I've got mine, so to hell with the rest of you" approach to government.
I assume you're expecting liberals to donate their wealth, while conservatives hoard theirs. Another difference between liberals and conservatives is that liberals want a more equitable society, while conservatives are trying to turn this country into an oligarchy, with the rich and their corporations in power, and those who are not rich doing their bidding to make them richer, while they live on scraps.
Then why do the liberal google billionaires hide their money in Ireland to avoid paying US corporate taxes. And why have studies shown that conservatives give more to charities than liberals?
"Do conservatives give more away? According to a new study by two MIT political scientists, not really. Conservative individuals and individuals in red states were more likely to donate to religious organizations"....Charity, or command?
So "if they would gladly pay their fair share" then why don't they? Because they can put their hand in everyone else's pockets is why.
What do you mean: gift it to the gvt??I mean--they pay taxes. Tax policy decides what they pay. Changing the policy takes Congress....ask them! I read the reason Koch and Adelson hate Obama so much--he wants to end carried interest tax loop-hole.And?

You're starting with an unknown premise. (Someone with a philosophy/logic degree, please define what type of argument this is and the fallacy in this question). I think this is "begging the question"
"The fallacy of begging the question occurs when an argument's premises assume the truth of the conclusion, instead of supporting it. In other words, you assume without proof the stand/position, or a significant part of the stand, that is in question. Begging the question is also called arguing in a circle. There are so many assumptions in this question and undefined terms that it's difficult to answer.
I would say because they want everyone else to give their money to the government. If they really wanted to support a government program, they're wealthy enough to start a non-profit to meet any need they desire. I don't understand their dependence on the government to do anything. It seems they want the government to take peoples money rather than start a non-profit where people can give their money willingly.
Ya, I agree, what they really want is to force you to support their pet causes, while they do what they want. It provides a convenient way to look noble with little sacrifice on their part.
So they can get richer through the private sector of business.
Ya that's of course true! The real question is that since they believe the government is better equipped to decide how our money is spent, why they haven't given more of their own wealth to the government?

Utopianism is the real crux of the problem: the insistence of attempting to establish that which can never exist. We are a society which is driven by hope.
