Mayor Ed Murray of Seattle is defying the Trump administration action over sactuary cities and going to the courts.
Trump administration wants to withhold federal funds to cities that defy ICE compliance.
What do you think? Does he have any legal ground to speak of?
What are your views on sancuary cities policies across the country?
Do you understand what is a sactuary city?
What does the voters want? Should elected public officials follow the law? Federal laws?

If the Trump administration doesn't withhold  Grants , highway funds and any other funds to prove that  constitutional law  actually matters   and doesn't have these law breaking  mayors arrested  he should probably be impeached .

Immigration Law , as any law ,   isn't a personal choice as to whether or not to comply .

Here is a quote from wikipedia on sanctuary cities:

San Francisco – "declared itself a sanctuary city in 1989, and city officials strengthened the stance in 2013 with its 'Due Process for All' ordinance. The law declared local authorities could not hold immigrants for immigration officials if they had no violent felonies on their records and did not currently face charges."[40] The 2015 shooting of Kathryn Steinle provoked debate about San Francisco's "sanctuary city" policy.[42]
In January 2017 a bill was proposed in the California State Legislature to make California a "sanctuary state."[43][44]

Seattle is not the first, or even the fifth, sanctuary city to sue.  I believe San Francisco was the first.  The legal wonks say they have some chance of winning in a state's rights basis.

There are many who believe law and especially constitutional law ,to be somehow  fluid .    There are many ways that these mayors can be held accountable ,   Did you know that almost half of California voting residents are FOR  immigration  enforcement  !

      Here is one interpretation -
The central teaching of the Tenth Amendment cases is that even where Congress has the authority under the Constitution to pass laws requiring or prohibiting certain acts, it lacks the power directly to compel the states to require or prohibit those acts. Congress may not, therefore, directly compel states or localities to enact or to administer policies or programs adopted by the federal government. It may not directly shift to the states enforcement and administrative responsibilities allocated to the federal government by the Constitution. Such a reallocation would not only diminish the political accountability of both state and federal officers, but it would also compromise the structural framework of dual sovereignty and separation of powers. Thus, Congress may not directly force states to assume enforcement or administrative responsibilities constitutionally vested in the federal government. Forcing subfederal entities to allow voluntary cooperation raises the spector of violating those principles. [UC Irvine Law Review, 2012]

Perhaps the problem is when cities do not allow   I.C.E.  in , AND  set up specific enclaves for  , feeding , educating  , providing  healthcare , birthing rooms and residences for  illegals . There is a difference between  turning your head away from a bank robbery  and  actually driving the getaway car .

Refusing to obey laws isn't the same as actively participating in the breaking of them .

Good point. We need to put these mayors on record. What do they believe is the proper role of city government in dealing with undocumented immigrants? Does the people of their cities agree with them?

Law enforcement DIECTLY  deals with the I.C.E.  without mayoral   input OR interference .  Mayors are political  , Cops have to conform to their oath of office , too bad the mayors aren't  and don't ,  .....................simply  arrest them !

In a new poll, 80% of Americans oppose sanctuary cities.  When criminal illegals have more protection than citizens, something has drastically gone array.   I don't care who it is, police officer, mayor, sheriff, attorney...if they do not wish to uphold the law then they there complicit.   They should be removed from their office at the ballot box or fired if possible.

It would be interesting to find out what other federal laws these officials feel they can choose to ignore...
What about anti discrimination laws? Would they be OK if some small town in the US decided to ignore anti-gay laws?

Here is a list of Country Jurisdictions that have refused to turn over criminal illegals in sanctuary cities for the week of Jan. 28 through Feb. 3.   U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said there were 206 illegals whom sanctuaries refused to turn over.
                https://www.ice.gov/doclib/ddor/ddor201 … o02-03.pdf

I found that info here on WND:  http://www.wnd.com/2017/03/trump-releas … ABAy5FE.99

Evidently, this is like an official "name it shame it list".  Maybe its a weekly release, I think I remember something being said about doing that by the Trump WH.  Not a bad idea if it wakes regular American voters up as to who are not enforcing the law as elected officials.

Its insane that this lawlessness is even going on!

If anyone COULD  ever believe in the ideology of liberal America , especially  the new liberal ,   we would be advised that it is the liberals ,the  democrats , that are  supposed to be the  humanitarians of the new world order !     Not ! ....... I have said it before and liberals refuse to acknowledge this one simple fact ; .........   The illegal immigrant suffers  the greatest chances of being exploited in many ,many ways in America and   that ,   IS the greater sin about a shadow population in any first world nation .  The exploitation of  illegals by   existing below the protections of the law in every aspect  of their existence ,to say nothing about the laws they are breaking by simply being here .

But , Don't  ever expect  an understanding  or acknowledging of this reality from liberals .

    Methods and examples of illegal immigration exploitations IN AMERICA ;
    - landlords
    - sex trafficking
    - shadow employers
    - drug trafficking
    - loan programs[interest rates, scams]
    - hospital ,healthcare professionals
    - on the job injuries
    - labor laws , overtime , workers  insurance
    - travel
    - retail price , cost gouging
    - education system

That is what happens when you have a 2 tiers population, one legal and one illegal. The illegals will be exploited by some because they have no choice. Why are we allowing this condition to perpetuate?

As liberals would have the world believe ," Trump  Totally Ends Immigration "

And yet , maybe liberals want to simply include one more category in the list of failures of  the American culture , The equal protect of everybody by the same uniformity of  laws,     Or maybe not  , Look what democrats have done in the issue of  slavery over the last two hundred years or so  ,  But then  , isn't that what always happens when liberals  pull an people  under their  " protective "wings ?

Equalization by law ,  let anyone into our country legally  and watch as our multicultural  nation flourishes equally .    When one has to  live under the radar of our laws , one will suffer incredibly for that "right ",   I often come to the conclusion that those who support illegal immigration so strongly must not be intellectual enough to see through the consequences of that act .
