Great question. Difficult answer! A good leader is someone you want to follow not because he/she demands it but because they have earned your respect and admiration. A good leader has the ability to relate, to understand, to learn. A good leader does not ask you to make the same mistake twice just so they can experience it. A good leader trusts his/her charges and listens to what they collectively have to say. There are people who are put in charge who demand effort on the basis of authority and essentially fear then there are leaders who earn your respect and set an example that you are willing to follow and support. You can learn some of these traits but I firmly believe that true leaders are born and the training only helps. WB
