There supposedly is a flap over the fact that Michelle Obama wore shorts on her vacation to the Grand Canyon. Is anyone actually upset by this? I have been looking for news stories and all I find are stories saying the outrage is ridiculous. Who said it was inappropriate? If someone actually was outraged then I'd say that someone needs a vacation themselves.
I guess it's the same as the flap over Jackie Kennedy being seen in a bikini in the 60s.
I have to admit when I saw the news video, I did note that she had on shorts. Then I waited for people to be upset by this. She looked great. It's just a different way of being from what we're used to from first families. I find it refreshing, that they look like us so much of the time.
Oh please! Give me a break!! Doesn't our wonderful media have any thing better to worry about?? Like our economy? Or the war? Or a billizion other more important issues? This type of thing is such a waste of air time in my opinion.
It seems that some people get in a flap over nothing. I wonder if they are the same people who don't vote, then blame others for the way they voted.
It's really different from previous First Ladies, but that doesn't mean it's inappropriate! Just different. It is 2009. The weather was over 100 degrees. Who could expect anyone to wear pants in that type of weather?
Not a big deal! I was actually surprised to hear about it.
She's on a family vacation. Let her have family time with her kids.
she takes a lot of vacations-didn't she just get back from europe a few weeks ago?
I could care less what she wears.
We visited Monticello recently, just a few days after the Obamas toured it. Our guide didn't mention what Michelle wore. I trust she had sensible shoes 'cause it's a lotta walkin'.
Our guide did mention that our tour group was "more important" (his words) to the Monticello Foundation because we "left money", while the Obama entourage did not.
what mrs obama wears on a daily basis is of absolutely no interest to me. i am more concerned about what is happening in our country, not what is happening on her back!
I think it goes to show how women really haven't come that far that the media still finds what women wear newsworthy.
Michelle Obama dressed appropriately for spending an August day outdoors in Arizona. The President probably also wore shorts too, if he's a sensible man. Note that nobody ever criticizes the man over his choice of attire.

I reported for jury duty this morning. The line of potential jurors stretched across the courthouse square. Of about 70 people in line at one time there were several, especially young women, wearing shorts and flip flops. Others were wearing dirty jeans and tank tops. While this is a rural...
