I would say that either the human race will evolve and all learn to love one another and get along (something I consider to be unfortunately unlikely), or we will destroy ourselves with nuclear and biological weapons. It seems that the probabilities of us destroying ourselves are much, much, much, much higher than the likelihood that anything else will destroy us first. Of course, a nuclear episode would probably not wipe out the world entirely, but could certainly end the world as we know it.
Everything repeats itself. The earth will be decimated one day. That is certain by geological record. When today or in a million years. ??? Or when some religions god wants to destroy the world in jealous vengeance against those that don't do as he says. Why is there no female goddess claiming to destroy the world if we don't bow down before her???
I don't believe the world will end...it will simply evolve into crisis which will destroy the civilization and undermine man's human aspects to the point where people will be thrust back into the basic survival mode driven simply by animal instinct and the strong surviving the weak. How do you get there...quite easily. Energy costs climb through the roof on crude oil driving the cost of transportation to excess which in turn inflates the shelf price of all retail products dramatically placing much of it, including food staples, beyond the consumer's ability to pay. Lack of sufficient energy such as coal begins to affect electrical grid demand placing many areas of America into brown out or black outs, causing food spoilage and depriving folks of basic comforts. Tempers begin to flare, choas and riots soon erupt in the streets as desperate citizens begin to rush grocery stores to secure basic food staples. Looting and theft are the order of the day. Animal instincts soon overpower human judgement and there is no voice of reasoning to which the masses will listen. Rapidly the world falls back into the era of the caveman bashing each other's brains out in order to survive a little longer than the next guy. At some point possibly, tribes form and crude forms of warfare begin to erupt over territorial claims. The world begins to cycle back through that which it has already came...possibly more than once. WB
The world will end when you cease to exist , when your conciousness stop observing the earth. But he who did the observing will life forever. This is my personal opinion i might be wrong.
Pretty deep answers here... but all in a simple metaphor, we'll drown in our own beer. cheers!!
No one knows for sure, too many hollywood movies comes to mind, but I think we might be the cause of our own demise according to some people.
Not sure but my birthday happens to be 12/21 as in December 21............figures!
The earth relies heavily upon the sun for sunlight and energy. Otherwise, the earth will be inert. I think, if for some reason, the earth somehow comes too close the sun, or too far away from the sun, that's the sign of the end of the world. It's amazing how we are just the right distance from the sun. :-)
The to this depends upon the meaning of the world ending. If you mean, the world as we know it, it has, already ended a number of times. However, if you mean the earth's human population, the most scientifically justified possibility is, that - barring some inane human act - the world will end in approximately one million years, when the sun burns out.

Simple question, why are so many members of the 'Christian Right' fiercely opposed to fighting global warming, or pretty much any other potential eco-friendly measures? If God created this world, surely we should strive look after it properly?

Are we moving into an age where we destroy the world to create an artificial reality? Why are people so disconnected with reality? People do not even know how to or just refuse to plant a garden nowadays. Why are people so eager to move away from what I call normal reality. Sadly people might say I...
