Well I imagine the short version would go something like this…
First they will be happy with their new “freedom”. Not long after they will begin to realize some people have a very different concept of freedom. Some will take what they want with no one to stop them since there are no laws right? Then all of a sudden a group will form to protect themselves after being victimized long enough. Others will say “Hey we should make a group as well for our own protection”. These groups will of course decide what is acceptable and what is not within their own domains…Hey wait that sounds kinda like some rules or laws!
Along comes a person with a very dominant personality that decides they know how to “protect everyone else the best”. They grow a following that becomes larger and larger because the people feel safer in that following. As more people join the following the leader will begin to want to “help” even more people out by incorporating the small groups into their large one.
With so many people now there has to be a way to make everyone get along. Enter official laws and regulations for the common good. Since staying alive anymore is not such a pressing concern people will want to improve their quality of life. That means committees to oversee public works, which leads to taxes.
I could keep going on leading up to a dictatorship or monarchy. I think I have said enough now though to make my point lol.
DaNoblest - you completely answered the whole point of the question.

I don't know about you, but I'm getting really sick of hearing "the Left HATES FREEDOM."Followed closely by "the Left hates AMERICA."What's the most annoying accusation you've heard about your chosen political affiliation?
