I think World War II may not have happened, and since a large number of technological advances were discovered as a result of the world at war, we would be less technologically advanced than we are today. Space travel, radar, and mass production may have been decades behind.

World War II was mainly a war between Nazi Germany and the USSR. Germany attacked and invaded Poland in Eastern Europe in 1939, prompting the UK and France to jump in and interfere. With that, Germany fought western allies as well. With Fascists like Franco and Mussolini emerging in the 20s and 30s, a Fascist dictator of sorts was certain to appear in Germany as well. Germany would have been a militantly anti-Communist Fascist state without a doubt. I believe war between the USSR and Germany would have eventually taken place, but it would have happened further down the road.

It is not beyond the realms of possibility that communism would have had a much greater say in 20th century world politics. The USSR would have spread its influence much further and might well be alive and kicking to this day.
