What issues do you enjoy debating?
As per me I like to debate on social issues.
as a student of debate - i studied now over 7 years the art of debate... now I am a master debater ...... :-)
Politics in general; even though the discussion rarely ever goes anywhere. I also enjoy talking about religion and its negative effects on society. Again, it never goes anywhere. As a combat veteran, I also enjoy debating anyone on foreign policy and war in general, since I am avidly anti-war.
Not necessarily all types of politics, but certain areas of them are my bread and butter. The death penalty, abortion, legalizing marijuana, etc. The extremely controversial ones that I have a solid opinion on. I also enjoy a good religious debate as long as people don't make it personal.
I enjoy debating on politics, religion, and social issues, but preferably only when those involved are receptive to the opinions of others (i.e., they don't resort to name-calling, etc.). As has been said, it's not very productive when a debate gets personal. In terms of particular topics, anything related to education (particularly with regards to childhood obesity, or the church v. state debate), animal cruelty, the effect of religion on society, and the legalization of marijuana, to name a few.
On a less serious note, I also enjoy discussing sports, particularly baseball and hockey, and what might be done to turn my Cubbies into a legitimate baseball team.
I'm also more interested in social issues...gender bias, racism etc...though I always have something to say on everything.
Politics Shmalitics!
I enjoy debating many things!
-PC gaming Vs. Console Gaming!
-Apocalypse Now! Original Director's version, Redux, or Theatrical version!
-Global Warming, and other such political/Financial motivations.
-Boxed PC games, or Direct Download/Streaming
-Aliens or Avatar - Which is Camerons most influential movie!
-The only religion worth anything, is Pastafarianism!
-The point of the FDA, ATF, & Dept. of Education?
-Metroid or Zelda - Which was the better adventure game?
-How corn is killing us.
-Our national obesity rate. etc. etc. etc.
-The merits of Nascar Racing!
Other than social issues i look forward to debating on technology specially on Smartphone , i guess they are making a big difference in communication technology.
I also enjoy to debate about social issues. Different opinions and ideas can be shared and gained since the coverage of the topics are broad.

Wow. This is the first time I've read this forum category, and I swear my blood pressure has got to be twice as high as it was before I started reading. I'm banning myself from this entire topic. It's sad, because I had some ideas I wanted to share from a liberal and inclusive...

You know what sort of debate I'd like to see? One with instant fact checkers, a buzzer that goes off when they lie, and a microphone that switches off when their time is up. And I would like to see them address the real issues like.1. The Homeless2. Hunger In America3. All Our Jobs Being Sent...

Besides religion and politics, what other topics tend to be debated/argued about the most?If you want your next family event to be sporting, but don't want to fight about politics or religion because they've been overdone and are now boring - what other topics might start a spirited debate? Why...

When did we stop being the "United" States of America and become the "seperate ,angry, hateful "America? Don't we all still want freedom? Then why is it that a possible future president could be able to tell us that we are not allowed to have birth control ,that we are not...

Does the President truly have power over social issues, or does the American's popular opinion haveDoes the President truly have power over social issues, or does the American's popular opinion have more influence?

Do you think its a good idea or bad idea to write about politics on HubPages?Politics, like religion, stirs up emotions in some people bringing out their, shall we say, darker qualities. Knowing this is it a good idea to rouse them with political hubs?
