Which of the Republican candidates for President do you hope receives the nomination, and why?
I don't think it will matter unless one of them can clearly present they have solutions to the nation's problems. Simply being "anti- Obama" is not enough. In fact the only reason President Obama got elected in the first place was because the economy was in the toilet. Had things been going great it's unlikely the American people would have felt the need to change courses.
Regardless of which party you are for one thing has to be considered and that is this recession is a "global recession". It's not as if the nations of Europe are doing any better. When you really think about it the president has less power on domestic issues. In fact all he can do is try to push his agenda through congress. We live in a partisan nation whereby both parties would rather fight each other for power than to do what is best for the American people. Awhile back I wrote a hub "Political Gridlock It's the American Way". Politics has become more like a sport where each of us roots for (our team) instead of trying to find ways to solve problems. "Party loyalty" is king!
No one party has all of the "good ideas". In fact in some instances Obama has put forth ideas that were considered "Republican" but since (he) is pushing for them suddenly they are not good ideas. The Democrats did the same thing when Bush was in office. Each party believes it's job is to make the other party look bad.
