If we could take a glimpse at all of Nikola Tesla's contributions, study them, apply them, then perhaps there would be an explosion of innovation...
I do not think we are. We are too in tune with worrying about patents, laws for patenting and lawsuits. If people did not have to worry about that, we could get farther as a society. I do not think we are on the brink of anything. Japan might be, but not the west. We are too worried about id Snookie is pregnant or not to worry about making something that could help us. Plus we are on the brink of losing the country because we owe so much money and can not afford to keep our government.
