Who does the media represent?
Reporters regularly argue on behalf of the public, saying they represent the public’s right to know. Do they truly represent the public or do they represent their own interests?
The media represents itself, well its owners. Gone are the days that they would investigate whatever needed to be investigated. Now they investigate only those things that they have been told to or at least first been given permission to. They say that they report what the public want to hear but what they mean is they report what they want the public to hear, then tell them or try to tell them, what they want to hear. Smoke and mirrors, they try to brainwash you into believing what they want you to believe. You can still rely on them to tell you what is happening, just don't listen to them when they try to tell you why.
Time Warner, News Corp, General Electric, Comcast, National Amusements, and the Walt Disney Company are the interests the media represents. They own all of it.
"Whoever controls the media controls the mind." What used to be "news" is now political propoganda yet we still watch our TV's and shake our heads believing we know what's going on when only a precious few have a clue.
As others have said the media represents it owners and through them shareholders. However,I believe some still try to represent public interest.Though this has become more difficult with arguememnts of what actually is in the public interest.
I think investigation of goverment policies is of public interest, how much an individual earns, sexual exploits, and charitable giving is not so relevant.
Numerous polls of the media have shown that better than 80% of them are liberals by their own accounts. (ie Media Research Council etc.) This is why Democrats get more favorable coverage than Republicans. This is also why you never get to see the thousands of stories each year of people who use guns to stop a crime and protect their own lives.
Here is another example, the media praised Hollywood for supporting Roman Polanski, a film producer who gave a 13 year old girl qualudes and then raped her. After all he was an artist and admired by the left. However, any rumor about the Church is treated as fact and represented as indicative of the entire clergy. Why? The left hates the Church and thiat is their chance to make you hate the Church too.

The Democrat leaders are trying very hard to fix what Trump broke during his term and restore what was lost after President Obama left Office. Had Hillary Clinton become president, she might have handled the pandemic much better than President Trump did. Kamala Harris may have to step in for Joe...

We've watched the political theater provided by Senator Di-Fi and the mysterious letter (the one that couldn't be brought up during the actual hearings even though she had possession of it during the proceedings) and followed with baited breath as the identity of the accuser was revealed. A...

Brexit seems to be the UKs answer to the US question: How do we get our mojo back?Donald Trump is our Brexit. A promise to take us back to simpler times, when we could rule our destiny and blah, blah blah. He is currently stumbling around Scotland, congratulating them on voting to take their...
