Why do political discussions often devolve into "peace and love" idealists versus flag-wavers doom?
Why do so many political discussions seem in need of a moderator, lest they devolve into deliberate and contrived non sequiturs and mudslinging?
Great question. In my limited experience, I see that some people get "keyboard courage" saying things they'd never say when face to face with others challenging their ideas and opinions while others suffer from a desire to be nice/positive/politically correct even when this gets in the way of the discussion. Sometimes when these extremes answer there has to be a moderator in the discussion.
People feel passionate about their ideals. Some like conquest and others want us to be good guys who mind our own business and just do trade in the world.
WFD, sir! While one zeitgeist SO wants to believe that "every little thing.....is gonna be alllllright.." they (okay, we) live our lives TOWARD that end. The other cries "doom", and FORCES their solution to sole viability. Voi'la! Validation!

I have been in many controversial political discussions on hub pages. I consider myself a centerist. I believe we need both some components of socialism to provide the things that we can't do as individuals and some componets of capitalism, but not enfettered capitalism. It seems that...

One of my hub published in February 19, 2010, present hub score 78 is showing a moderator set alert. It is showing that the hub has deceptive title, tag or category. I have reviewed the hub once again and don't find anything deceptive. Moreover , it is two years old hub, and only today I am seeing...
