Should Washington DC be renamed as Parasite City?

That economy depends on government jobs.  It doesn't create any wealth, it just shuffles it around.

I think it should change to 'the land around the White house where the peasants suffer'

Good one naeeme.  I think Obama wants everyone to be lower than peasants.  His objective is to make everyone a serf to the federal government.

It is disheartening lostdogrwd, and there's really no way to make sure that the people that we elect follow through on their promises.  The only way we can get them out is to vote for someone else.

It's a city of corruption, decadence, and fantasy. Also, the buildings and countless memorials are hideous. It creates vast amounts of wealth for a very small segment of the population with regards to government contracting. I think it should only be a ceremonial capital. Of all the government departments we have, only the military seems to be setting a precedent by re-locating away from Washington. It has made the most progress by moving many of its domestic agencies and headquarters out of the city to many other states (and I don't just mean Alexandria, VA)

Decadence and corruption is right Old Empresario.  It's not even fantasy, it's an alternate reality.

It is the people's fault the Government is corrupt.  We allowed the Government to gain unlimited power and deceive us.  They told us they would bring us free money and free stuff and we listened.  What they did was take our money and give us back a few crumbs.

Since we gave politicians all the power to run our lives corporations can buy influence and pay for laws.  The Government has too much power to auction off to the highest bidder.

We live in a fascist state.

"when fascism comes to America, it will not be in brown and black shirts. It will not be with jackboots. It will be Nike sneakers and smiley shirts. Smiley-smiley." George Carlin
