What has Obahma said about the Patriot Act? Is his administration planning on getting rid of this?
The Patriot Act is one of those promises Obama made during his campaign that have slid by the wayside. He'll probably find some of the intimidation parts useful when he attempts to ram his proposals down the throats of the American people.
the patroit act was initiated by dubya as a precursor to his storm troopers he had in waiting to deploy in america against its citizens.
Get over it Pylos. The Patriot Act was a bipartisan effort to increase the surveillance capability of the government. By it's very nature, that bill violates the Constitutional protections of every American. It's useful for the government to have those powers, that's why you don't see Obama or the Dems giving that power up.
Patriot Act...do you really think that a legislation will stop the feds from spying on who they wish? No stinking badges, or piece of paper is going to stop them from invading any US citizens privacy in the name of security.
Lest we forget the marvelous 60's when a transvestite J Edgar Hoover, spied on MLK, JFK, The Black Panthers and any "hippie" he felt was a threat without impunity. He had his agents were so busy watching the Panthers feed hungry children before they went to school that Charlie Manson and his crew went on to plan one of the bloodiest murders of the era on an old film set not far from LA..undistrubed. Go figure!!!
So it's probably here to stay. Just hope the Feds don't mistakenly take you in the middle of the night when they meant to take your neighbor. You'll be hidden away so far you effectively won't exist anymore even when they figure out their mistake, they're not going to admit it .

The Patriot Act was meant to be short term but looks to become permanent. Does it go to far? Does it really violate our privacy rights?

Will we ever be able to rid ourselves of the Patriot Act?“I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.”Thomas Jefferson
