When has someone's view in religion or politics gone too far?

When do we need to draw the line if there is arguements of views and how do you address the situation?  Everyone sits back and doesn't involve themself but I have seen very bully like behavior from adults today and I stood up and spoke up and got attacked for admitting my view.  When do we say someone has crossed a line and how do we deal with it if there is no recourse through the online provider?  How can we save what is left of humanity and still provide areas for intelligent and open-minded people to bring ideas together to foster change?  When does freedom of speech go to far?

Abby, such a great question. I wish I had a beautiful easy answer. In this day and age you would think we would be more civilized. Have you read "Lord of the Flies," That book haunted me. This is what I am seeing in our society. We have degenerated. We have become a society of spoiled children. Where are our manners? Where is the American heart that I watched unfold on the original 9/11? Freedoms are slipping away, and the ones we still have, such as freedom of speech, are being abused. I believe it has gone too far for a long time now, too many absurdities are allowed under that umbrella. The root problem, why can't we trust people to act responsibly with our freedoms?

Actually no never thought people would care to read it.  I started the theory based on everyone's fascination with things in the media, and it created something really twisted but not unrealistic.  It was kind of creepy but cool...maybe i should

Great question.  I think it is great to speak openly about religion, politics and all topics.  But, I think it goes too far when I feel forced to accept another's view or idea or belief of what is right.  I read the other day that a law was passed in Santa Monica that a judge ordered a 60 year old tradition of placing the Nativity Scene in the major park there be banned because it was offensive to the atheists.  It is now the law.   Just as we voted for same sex marriage, I think things are going too far.
