Has technology made our lives better or worse?
Do you feel we are better off with all the latest technologies (cell phones, texting, facebook, twitter) or worse than before all these existed?
I like this question. I'm shocked you haven't had more answers.
Technology is a tool like any other, except it is probably mass marketed as a life style more than any other tool (the automobile has things in common with this)
It is this marketing that is raising the issue. For example, we have come to accept Skype as an equivalent to being there in person rather than a substitute.
Texting is being mistaken for real communication, when it frequently just the opposite:
eg: Texting: "Honey, I'm going out after work. See you later." is a lack of communication, not communication. If the texter had made a call instead, there would likely be questions: (Where are you going, when will you be home, who are you with, what are you doing, can I join you.)
Often we use these tools to limit communication.
The technology has the potential to make our lives better.
The choices we make using it? Whole 'nother question.
