Sorry if I misjudged you, Stan. I thought you were one of those who believes Obama can do no wrong.

I agree that he has made many mistakes so far.  I can only hope that he can fight the lobbyist machine that runs Washington.

No, Stan. Read my post again. I said a president needs both. As a retired teacher, I am all for a good education. I'm just saying that because someone has a great education does not a good president make. They also need honesty, insight, leadership, courage, and integrity.

Very good point.  I agree that common sense, honesty, and integrity are hard factors to measure, but they are very important X factors.

Why do we, as citizens, allow all the lobbyists?? We'll never have honest politicians as long as there's so much underhanded money to be made in congress. Can we all agree on that?

Because we like the 1st Amendment.

I agree with you, Stan. Bush was more qualified than Palin. I think if he had not allowed himself to be led by the far right and Cheney, he would have been a much better leader.

I dunno, Earnesto. Donald's kinda short. Don't presidents have to be on the tallish side?

What worries me is that she might run as a third party candidate. I don't think she has a chance as the Republican nominee. Of course, if Afghanistan is solved and the economy rebounds, I believe Obama will be re-elected.

Kevin 07 will do just fine. The opposition blew themselves apart a couple of days ago. Cost will be at least 20 seats they cannot afford to lose. The front and back bench of the liberal party under Malcolm Turnbull mostly resigned! smile

Half the liberals did not want to ratify the new ETS (carbon tax) before the meeting next week.

The liberals did NOT want to?

That is right. Even after this leader and the previous liberal party leader John Howard had both ratified it!

The liberal party is a little like the republicans, with the incumbent labor government more like your democrats, although they have been growing closer to a central position for the last 10 or so years. smile

Kartvellian appears nowhere on Wikipedia.  Neither does Mingrellian.  By the way, there are other sources on the internet, alone, that one may consult.  Don't imagine you thought of that, though.

And nevertheless, most of my information was obtained from Z., the New York Times, The Times, Politico, and Georgian political newspapers.

      Yawn.

LOL! Top-secret information about what is happening on earth! The New York Times?! What kind of top-secret clearance do you need to access such classified info? This reminds me of an episode of 'Friends' where Joey bought one volume of an encyclopedia and then tried to pretend he was quite knowledgeable by referencing that one volume. LOL! Nevermind, you might not get the joke if you didn't see it.

Wasn't it the conservatives of the past that harped on the idea of 'character?'  And I wonder why people even write biographies, or why resumes are even presented when people apply for jobs.

Are you serious?  Wow, I never heard such a ridiculous statement.  Are you sure she didn't say that as a joke though, as I know the media tends to take things out of context a lot, so I just thought i'd ask....

The only positive thing we get out of Palin is that provides more than enough material for the late night comedians. But since day one since ariving on the scene, she's been on big joke.
