I'm all for gun control.  I don't want the UK to turn like the USA, with lots of people tearing around bleating their right to have arms,  We have virtually zero possibility of being shot here as against those countries that have the right to bear arms.

so how do you guys hunt if you cant have weapons.... and what do you do in the event someone tries to break into your home?

I have no idea how people hunt, it isn't a big thing here.  Funny how you turned 'guns' into weapons in general, this question was about gun control.  We had a case recently where a farmer shot and killed a burglar, the farmer was gaoled.

Yay!  I say it is important to have a gun control law as with any other law.  I think those who have professions to defend themselves (ie. police/security, etc) need guns simply for protection.  Do I think people should be walking around with concealed weapons legally because they have a permit?  No!  Absolutely not!  I think we increase the fear of living by simply carrying a gun around with the explanation "what if.. or just in case something happens."  I think we need to find a way to treat each other right, take care of each other and live.

The gangs in the US are the real root cause of violent crimes.
I wrote a hub on it, if you want the details.

Yay on control. Nay on the outlawing of any guns. This is our fundamental rights protected by the second amendment. If they outlaw any gun, then the only one's with that gun will be the criminals. They will always find a way to obtain them through the black market. Australia outlawed guns, since that time they have seen an increase in murders, robberies, etc. by guns. Overall their crime rate has risen to over 300% of what it was before the outlaw of guns. Now the only ones with guns in Australia are the bad guys.

Most crime in Australia is down, incl. homicides, robberies, prop. crimes . Assaults are up (a little). Crime being up 300% is an outlandish claim. http://www.aic.gov.au/documents/B/4/2/% … acts10.pdf

Nay. Most people that use guns for violent / illegal crimes have them illegally. If guns are illegal, only criminals will have guns.

There was a story a little while ago of a shooter who went in to a mall and started shooting. I don't remember if anyone was killed or not, but a civilian in the mall had a gun. The civilian drew his gun and pointed it at the shooter, but knew that if he missed, he might hit innocent bystanders, so he took cover with his weapon drawn. The shooter got nervous because the feeling of power that came from thinking he was the only one with a gun was shattered. The shooter ran in to the stairwell and shot himself.

Another person simply having a gun was enough to save the lives of multiple people in that mall that day.

NAY - By removing or further restricting those gun owners will not eliminate the evil because it is not the gun that is evil.  less that .01% of the guns owned by law abiding citizens have been used for evil actions.  more than 20% have thwarted evil.  If we eliminate the weapons, then the evil will rise quickly.  Security is provided by law abiding citizens.  Security is removed by irrational citizens who want to restrict law abiding citizens rather than eliminating the evil doer.
