Is socialism the scientific definition for any mixed economy?
No, socialism is it's own non capitalist economic system, in which the means of production (mines, factories etc.) are publically owned, it is separated from communism by the belief in people still having private property and capitalism by the obvious public ownership issue.
A mixed economy is just that, and in my view a good system.
