Maybe I'm tired, maybe I don't want to argue any longer, but there is enough people that come through these pages to do something good. I've seen it before with the letters to the terminally ill boy. Lets do it again for another cause.

I am willing to dedicate the time that I have spent "debating" in here to help fabricate a notable cause in the world and see it through. I think we should try to raise enough money to dig "1" clean water well in Africa. I know a group that could help us accomplish this as they have dug many wells before.

this will not be self promotional, hubpages promotional or any other group. This is to benefit the lives of the less fortunate, and I think it would be neat to see it all come together.

    What do you say?

I think you are onto something good!

Last few days I read a few posts made by Scottlife that really started me thinking. Looking over the forums this morning,I am seeing threads in a new light: A lot of people are claiming to have the answers or the right attitude, but it is not action for change. I would rather change the world for the better than spend time defending my beliefs on the forums too.

I do things to make a difference...to date I have made 52 baby quilts for the crisis pregnancy center. And every week I pray for the babies wrapped in those blankets. We donate food to the food pantry at our church, and tithe. Adopt a family for Christmas. Whatever we can do. But it doesn't feel like enough.

I have been looking into how to impact the segment of population making a choice to becoming criminals. I am intimidated and not sure how to proceed. There doesn't seem to be an active outreach in this area that I can team up with.

Seems we are all passionate about what is wrong, maybe we can act as passionately for causes that matter.

      Any others?

Dirty water is one of the biggest killers in disadvantaged countries. Building a well could make a huge difference, I think it's a great idea. Whats the plan smile

I'm glad to see some responses this morning smile

      The plan is as follows;

We will start this completely within.

A non-profit tax identification ID# needs to be established or used so that we can give donors reciepts for a tax write off. (I could use my church's) I would establish an LLC with members of the forums who want to be involved.

Total transparancy of the funds would be available to all who seek.

We will seek the assistance of a group that already has drilling rigs and equipment in Africa and we will fund the drilling of one well.(roughly $10K) I will get exact figures if this goes anywhere. There are a few really good non-profit groups over there right now, and this way we won't have to establish trucks and equipment.

We will need help from those "great writers" out there to publish information about our cause in their local papers, and help get donations. this will be an easy article once we know the exact dollar amount needed and the town in which the well will be drilled.

We will have representation once the well is drilled and delivered to the people. Photo's and some more articles.

I think this could be alot of fun. Maybe give us something better to talk about.

No need to go to Africa there are hungry, poor, forgotten people right here in the USA. Go down to your local area rescue mission and ask to volunteer or to donate.

I'm open to any good cause so long as we finish it and majority vote on it.

i have to say going round and round in circles in the forums helps nobody, but spending time helping others is a brilliant idea.....

I agree. Who wants to get involved?

I need people who are willing to manage an account with online banking. You will need to figure out what kind of account the bank suggests for such a cause, and you will need to be willing to provide reciepts for donors.(this area I will not be involved other than providing a non-profit tax ID# that we could use)

ahh, well thats the main issue. Sometimes donating time is better than money. Thats why we need the right people here for the job.

I think everyone above should be involved. I would trust any one of you to manage an account.

Habee, you have been very successful on hubpages- you want to manage an account with at least two other people?

    Have you seen this film?

    http://www.flowthefilm.com/

    I have.

And while good intentions make people feel warm and fuzzy the reality is Water around the world is managed and privatized FOR PROFIT.  The World Bank and private contractors are taking away water rights from the poorest people.

So dig your well.  Then watch the World Bank move in and shut it off.

That's the reality of what is going on.

If you want to be charitable do something close to home... something you can monitor and fight for locally.
