The Harlem Shake videos are huge. What do you think of the name being taken from the original Dance?

The videos are not associated with the original dance but they have the same name. Critics say its another case of stolen popularity from Black Culture.

As far as the Harlem shake goes, I think all black American culture is being copied by White American culture because there really is no white American culture other than a duller and more disorganized extension of European culture. The United States is still forming a homogenous culture of its own that will probably incorporate a lot of African-American culture into it. The US has only been an independent nation for 240 years. It took the British more than 1,000 years to form their own truly independent culture and style after their independence from Rome in 408 AD. After just 240 years, where were they culturally?--they were like us: a cluster of heterogenous groups of natives, immigrants, freemen, conquerors, and conquered.
