Is 2 months a fair sentence after their lie sent an innocent person to prison for four years?
Elizabeth Coast's lie put a man behind prison bars for 4 years of his young life for a rape that she admits never occurred. No one believed he was innocent until the liar finally revealed to a third party that she had lied, 4 YEARS after he was imprisoned. She got 5 years with all but TWO MONTHS suspended of which she'll serve only on weekends. She has to pay $90,000 to her victim which she quite likely does not and will not have. This restitution is a pittance compared to the lost years, freedom, and opportunities he has had stolen from him. Is this justice in your opinion?
This case makes me SICK! She should have been sentenced to AT LEAST 4 years! On top of what she did to the boy she also set back genuine rape victims with her false accusations. So many victims are afraid to come forward for fear of not being believed. Every time a case like this hits national media more and more people have that thought in their mind that others might not tell the truth. I really hate this happened to this young man. Truly a sad situation.
They need to make a law of mandatory 5 years for anyone who does this. Teach them a lesson and make an example.
This entire story is too bizarre...not to mention disgusting and despicable. The reality is, this happens far more often than is ever publicized. A travesty? Most definitely. The damage for the innocent young man has already been done, but amends are seriously in order.
It doesn't even make sense that this foolish girl fabricated such a lie, to cover for being caught by her mother, while viewing porn? ! Why the huge leap from a porn magazine to having been RAPED? What a dummy. She could have said that "So & So," left the magazine at the house and she was simply looking to see what it was.....if she was so horribly frightened of her parents.
Regardless of her lenient sentence, she now has a record of having committed perjury. I am more concerned that she be made to pay every single cent of the $90,000 the young man was awarded.....even if it takes her the rest of her life.
That amount isn't really fair, to be honest. Four years of his young life, I'm certain, is worth more than that.
If you want to know about extremely egregious cases of our judicial system atrocities.....there are thousands you can research. You can start with the Marty Tankleff case (New York)....if you want your blood to boil and the top of your head to explode. THAT poor young man went through the HELL of all hells......due to crooked, lying, immoral, frauds, thieves and murderers.....prosecutorial misconduct, dirty cops...you name it. Worst Travesty of Justice in history, in the state of New York.
Marty is finally out and free.....but nothing short of hanging the sleazy bastards by their toes, in a public square, just before they're locked up and hooked up to a chain gang, will ever be enough for the pigs that put Marty there for half of his young life.
That is insane. She took away part of his life and she gets a slap on the hand for it? I don't see how she can live with herself. She should spend the same amount of time behind bars as he did, if not more.

I cannot support the death penalty. My primary reason is that it is a decision that cannot be reversed. Oops, "I made a mistake ... too late, there is no correction."To be sure I do believe there are instances in which the criminal surely deserves the death penalty. Hells bells, in some...

What are your views on the death penalty? While I do believe that some people should be put to death, the risk of sending an innocent person to death is too great. I think either the requirements for the death penalty should be higher or is should be banned. What do you think?

Why to sentence a person for 515 years in prison?Recently I was listening to news on a radio and I heard that some guy was sentenced for 515 years in prison. Also several years ago Bernard Madoff was sentenced for 150 years in prison. To me those two cases seem to be very weird and illogical, since...
