Public investment in education or defense. which most important ?
Investment should always be more in education coz' that is how nations progress. However, the bitter truth is that currently, investment is made in the defense sector.
Public investment should always be much more in education than in defence. Education educates people and increases awareness among people. It makes your mind think reasonably and positively and there contributes to the development of your society and country. Prevents crimes and violence. So it is more important for public welfare.
Education money above the basics is mostly wasted. The US has cities that spend three times what others do, and yet cities like Baltimore and Washington DC have some of the lowest test scores and horrible high school graduation rates.
When a lot of money is poured into schools, teachers don't make much more and the quality of teaching is unchanged. Instead, it goes to build fancy athletic centers, bureaucracy, new technology and very little that actually helps kids learn.
Defense is important, but it can also become the same black hole of spending.
