In your mind, what is the most important political issue today that needs to be resolved.
If all the bickering by politicians would stop, and they would start working again, what is the one thing you would like to see them take care of first?
Working again is not the goal. Right wing wants to take over...that has been the problem all along. They have no intention of EVER working with "Demonrats". They want 100% total control.
Today's politicians only care about their own agendas and the heck with the rest of the country. They have completely forgotten how to compromise across the aisle, and this has ruined the past decade.
A couple of the main problems in this country are, the immigration problem and especially illegals. This problem must be dealt with soon as does the border problem. No other country would allow so many people to pour into their country illegally. This problem is draining resources.
The economy is still a big problem and too many confuse a rising stock market with the economy. This stock market boom has been one of the strangest ever. A rising stock market and a pathetic employment market with double digit unemployment rates, the real U6 rate that counts those that have quit looking and those that are underemployed.
Jobs, oursourcing and companies that continue to move their HQs out of country for tax reasons.
Congress has completely ignored all of these issues as the Senate has.
Another huge problem is the budget. It continues to skyrocket with less and less revenues coming in. Fix the tax laws and bring back jobs and at least the tax revenues will rise.
Getting back to the Constitution. Our elected officials and judges have lost track of our Constitution and have failed their oath of office. Many of our current problems can be traced directly or indirectly to the failure to follow the Constitution. "We the people..." have been ignored by the Washington elites for too long and the only solution I can offer is to adopt term limits for Congress. IMHO
Stronger voting rights laws and voter education is one of many important political issues. Voting is the only hope for change in the lives and life styles of voters and non-voters in America. Politics is life and living in America it is impacting our lives and voting is one way to have a littte control, more impact if we vote in packs

Since we talk a lot about politics in these forums, I'm curious about what everyone feels most strongly about. Is it gay rights? Abortion? The economy? Employment rights? What's your most important issue?

Has anyone ever changed your mind about a political issue by something they have said?I have begun to keep quiet during most political discussions. I truly don't think we ever change each other's minds and often friendships are destroyed for no reason. If someone becomes too nasty with...
