Are people serious when they claim that "white people don't suffer racism"?

I live in Tokyo, Japan. Today I went shopping and there was a store with signs all over it saying "no foreigners, f*** off", "no eating, no taking photos, sneaky foreigner" "f*** you foreigners". Now I realise this isn't directed only at whites, but I felt hurt and it pretty much ruined my day. Are people actually being serious when they claim that white people never suffer racism?

Of course there is racism on all sides. There are reverse racism as well. It is up to our goverment and society to pass laws to elliminate institutional racism. That will address the social economic aspects of racism. It won't do anything to elliminate individual bigotry. That has to come from family and school to teach these values that all men/women are created equal.

This isnt like being specific, hence cannot be regarded as discrimination against the white. It seems more of a generic statement that can apply to a wheatish Indian, a black African, a white American etc etc.

Ofcourse White people suffer discrimination but that's not even a tiny bit compared to what they practise, again that's a generic statement applicable on case by case basis!!

I don't "practise" racism. Everyone is equal. Do I deserve to be treated like that just because of the colour of my skin?

Just remember, since the signs were up for everyone to see, this isn't something personal. So, don't take it personally. Even though it does hurt, don't be so sensitive and don't take it as being aimed at just you.

@Poppy as Greg rightly mentioned "the signs were up for everyone to see", besides my statement too wasn't directed at you. Apologies if you felt that way. Racism or discrimination is an outright evil period

Racism is defined as when the dominant group can impose socioeconomic conditions which can adversely affect the subordinate group means to housing, health care, education, & job opportunities.  Caucasians can suffer racism when the dominant culture is non-Caucasian.  Racism isn't limited to a specific race.  Any race can be subjected to racism.

Yes, liberals who make this claim are serious because they've redefined the term racism to exclude themselves.
Thus a group of blacks can beat up a white screaming racist insults against the white and not be considered "racist" but acting against the system while a white person offering facts contrary to a black person's "narrative" is called an evil racist bigot.
