Isn't There Already a Wall on the Border of Mexico?

As I understand it, having been there and seen pictures, most of the populated areas along the U.S./Mexico border already have a wall in place.  When there is talk of "building a wall" what exactly does that mean?  Expand the current wall or enhance the current wall.  This proposed wall will not be something new built from scratch.

You are partly correct. Congress has passed a bill to construct a wall on our southern border many years ago. They started building it but it was never completed due to lack of will and lack of funding...
The current wall is only 70 miles or so. Some of the wall is just a single 6 feet high fencing. Very easy to defeat. What Trump is proposing is a real wall high enough so as to not easily breached. It will be aprox. 700 miles long. It will not stop all crossings 100% but even 98% will mean a great deal... to human traffic and illegal drugs.  Beside a physical wall, there are electronic surveillance and drones flying to make sure it is secure. This is not rocket science. Let's build the wall first, stop the leak, and then deal with the 20 million undocumented already here. I hope this is clear.
