Should Donald trump be allowed to appoint the next FBI Director, while under FBI

Should Donald trump be allowed to appoint the next FBI Director, while under FBI investigation?

President Trump, named Joseph Lieberman to replace the F.B.I. director James B. Comey, who he fired, told reporters on Thursday.
If Mr. trump would not release his tax return because it was under audit (Might reveal further ties to Russia....so what right does a man who is under FBI investigation have appointing an FBI Director.

I don't think it's a question of allowing him; it's the President's job to appoint an FBI director. He has to do it, and nobody else can do it.

I understand your concerns. It's possible, since Trump has shown he's clueless when it comes to obstruction of justice, that he might appoint someone who indicates they're on the same page, or who won't do an effective job investigating Trump.

That's why having a Special Counsel is a good thing. That investigation is somewhat independent from any sort of pressure the administration might apply. So, even if the FBI were to drop the ball on their investigation, anything they've found so far can be subpoenaed by the Special Counsel's investigation.

We have to trust that the checks and balances in place will still allow the truth to come to light, and let the legal process play out.

Hi Shy!  Good question.  I don't know for sure but I am sure this is all specified in the The Big Book of rules that govern our nation (Lord knows we have a rule for everything!)  If I had to guess, I'd say that the POTUS maintains all of his duties & responsibilities even during an investigation and is expected to carry on business as usual, going forward.
Joe Lieberman?  Haven't seen nor heard from Joe in ages & I know very little about him.  Once chosen though, he would have to be "approved" right?  So, at this point, there's no telling what will transpire in terms of a new FBI director.
I'm not overly impressed with any of the current appointees, but there's not a soul anywhere who cares what the hell I think! (Know what I mean, Girlfriend?)
We can only discuss things among ourselves.  Wow, like that helps!
We all get to sit and wait to see what happens, when, how and who.  In the meantime, those with the power and control~~our POLITICIANS do their thing, make the  decisions, enforce the rules, control us and our lives, take our money to spend as THEY see fit, kick us around and steamroll us & expect us to smile all the while.  In the end, we don't like them, they don't care about us....but you and I and our fellow American tax payers/voters continue to "discuss!"  Isn't this wonderful?  What a life!   Enjoy your week-end cutey!!

Paula, my sweet friend, the cabal does not give a rat's ace what I think or vote for either. So we wait for the faux investigation to tell us how saintly trumps is and what a Savior?
      Blessings and hugs.

I don't believe Trump has nominated Lieberman yet, but his name is being floated.  And yes he does have the right to nominate a candidate of his choosing.  Whether we like it or not, he is still President.  The Senate has to confirm his choice, and the investigation of any wrong doing by Trump and/or his associates is well under way.  There are some checks and balances in our system.  And I feel very positive with Robert Mueller now working as Special Counsel.

I understand he has the right normally, but while under investigation he should not have IMO.
      Thanks for the answer.
